I’ve spent my entire life learning about community by experiencing its power and the bitter-sweet taste of its loss. For each of my most profound experiences of the love, support and joy that is True Community, I lived an equally powerful experience of separation and emotional isolation. This vacillation between the peak of human experience and its darkest depths has given me a unique appreciation and led me to dedicate my life to understanding, creating, and sharing the gift that is Genuine Community. 

I have lived through horrific domestic violence, teenage pregnancy, single parenthood, anorexia and depression; lost, unsupported, and isolated without any sense of community. I have also risen to the greatest heights of self awareness, personal power and the ability to make a profound difference in the world; galvanized and empowered by the unique acceptance, support and love found in Genuine Community.

Through all these experiences and coaching people around the world, it has become clear that all people are looking for “something.”  Many try to fill that empty space with money, possessions, work, hobbies or even various partners when the real thing that they are missing is Community. Community provides constant support and fills a unique void in most peoples’ lives by creating deeper connection; to themselves, their environment, and each other. When I look back on my life, it is easy to see that the happiest times of my life were when I was part of a community.  I know what it is like to live life on my own and I know what it is like to live life in Community and, I will tell you, there is no comparison.

I have learned that the key factors in Genuine Community are:

• Everyone has a voice.
• Everyone matters.
• All problems have a solution and the solution holds a new paradigm for creating something greater.
• People support each other and work together for the betterment of the whole.
• Creativity is supported and encouraged.
• Everyone is responsible and responsive.
• Differing beliefs, backgrounds and cultures are honored and respected.
• Everyone is supported in being who they really are.

Many might think that all this is impossible but it is all quite easy. People thrive when you See them and allow them to be themselves. They make good decisions and choose love over fear. They find the courage inside themselves to speak from their hearts and listen with love and compassion. They find the strength to go against the norm and create something extraordinary. One Community is for those who believe in themselves, and also believe they can have it all and do what they really love to do.

The Soul demands Community and will not be truly fulfilled without it.

I have been actively dreaming of this Community for more years than I can count and I knew that others, sharing the same dream, would appear in my life, to not only fulfill this dream and create a Community but rather to create a new paradigm for the world – this is One Community. 

I met Jae Sabol in 2007 at an NLP Seminar and we became quick friends because we shared similar values and an abundant view of life. At that time, I had no idea that we also shared a dream of Community. But of course we did, and, in fact, on a deep level this is what truly brought us together. I believe that it is our destiny to create One Community and to make this dream a reality. With integrity, passion, and determination we have what it takes and continue to bring together a stronger and stronger team with the qualities and credentials necessary to take One Community from a vision on paper to a full fledge thriving Community that people, from all around the world, come to visit and learn from; making One Community a duplicable model and a new paradigm for Community making.

… a Real Life Eden where you can just be yourself, create abundantly and live your dreams; and share your life with those who love life as much as you do. In short we are evolving the intentional community model and expanding sustainability living concepts to include much more than just food, energy and structure sustainability because that happiness is what fulfills us most and sustainable design that works needs to include art, music, education, and recreation if it is going to be truly sustainable.

Spent the day thanking everyone for their support of the facebook fan page! Also got the final documentation for our 501C3 and wind of an 80 acre property just a couple hours South of LA and adjacent to an ashram... ponds on the property and it sounds beautiful. Going to go check it out on Thursday with a new community interest person I just met.

Yep, pretty busy....

Up until 3 last night

Well, this weekend was beyond busy and successful.

Met with a long time political activist and futurist Debra Olson and really felt a profound and beautiful connection. Her vision and ours are directly in line and we discussed financing, business plans, properties, and more. All in all a fantastic meeting and she is going to help make connections with financing as she has extensive experience and networking in the sustainability arena and financing.

Also spoke with Judy Quay - AMAZING woman as well. Between her and Debra I felt like I was visited by two angels! Judy had not seen the website yet but completely resonated with the vision and has a dream of a healing Pyramid that is directly in line with the pyramid John has been talking about for the 6th chakra.

Also spoke with a long time friend Kean who's dad has a banker friend that is "looking for a project just like this to invest in"... crossing my fingers and will meet with Kean to discuss details over lunch this Friday.

Biggest bummer with a huge silver lining was finding out that some error in iWeb had created problems with a bunch of random links throughout the site requiring that I go in and manually enter each link as if it were a link to an external page vs. a page as part of the site, which took about 5 hours split between Sara and I and got me to bed around 3 AM.  Silver Lining: this corrected a google indexing problem I'd been trying to figure out for the past couple months or so... SWEET!

Set up our conference line and will host our first conference call tonight.

Spent the day putting the final touches on our 501 C application, editing our proposal page, panicing and fixing an almost complete loss of the website (seems to happen a lot), studying how Twitter works, and updating as follows:

Larry Reck - Physicist, Energy Efficiency Expert, Carpenter, and Music Producer: After having completed 4-years of education at the USAF Academy in Colorado Springs, Larry first started his journey through the “Matrix” as a physicist in support of NASA Space Shuttle missions at Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX later continuing his government work as a nuclear remediation consultant for the Environmental Protection Agency at Rocky Flats, CO. Leaving government employ Larry diversified his career and started an import business of Mesoamerican artisan works; living with the indigenous artists in Southern Mexico, working with them, designing art, and getting his first unforgettable taste of living in true community. In this community, he began learning construction techniques and upon returning to the United States continued as a carpenter, remodeling and constructing houses.

Three years ago, Larry returned to his physicist roots and began studying all forms of alternative energy with specific interest in the more exotic technologies with the potential to completely eliminate the use of fossil fuels like using water as fuel, cold fusion, magnetic motors, and electromagnetic resonance. As part of his passion and exploration Larry has successfully implementing new technologies that improve the efficiency of the gas combustion engine by up to 40% and now heads up the One Community alternative energy team with the shared vision of creating a complete city that pioneers and showcases the most cutting edge sustainable energy technologies of our time.

In addition to Larry’s already diverse and relevant experience, he also writes and produces music using a state of the art production studio which we will re-create as part of One Community.

Whirlwind trip to SLC Friday through Sat leaving at 6 AM Friday morning, arriving at 7 PM Friday night and going straight into a One Community meeting with about 50 people. Stayed at Christine's house and woke up the next morning so Christine, David, John, Attilio, and myself could all meet, sign corporate documents, and then travel to John's Grow Utah First project before leaving to drive back home at about 7PM on Saturday... all in all spending more time in the car than we did actually out of the car in Utah.

Have spent the last week setting up our One Community Ranch 501 c non-profit organization while Sara has been working on expanding our social network presence.

Met with key investor... created new term: ethosolution

Spent Saturday talking with a key investor about the financials of the project - his comment was "hugely successful if you complete it but too risky because there can be no guarantee that you will complete it." In which case the value of the property would be less because, in a worst case scenario (that investors look at), we'd build parts of pods but not finished them and they then have to be removed.

His suggestion: find funding without limits. Tap into the most cutting edge companies out there and then market to oil companies, etc. as part of their R and D and positive publicity budget. Look for government grants. Tackle the following industries (and we listed about 10). 

So that is what we are going to do. Christine is looking into grants, I'm going to talk to Bill and get his take on the Oil Industry, and we continue to really focus on increasing exposure. 

I'd have loved for him to say "looks good, how do I get involved" but was expecting this to be a critique meeting anyway. The timing couldn't be better for what I've got planned in the way of marketing and meeting new people so "onward and upward."

Coined a new term to define what we are creating since the "evomimicry" people seem bogged down in administrative discussions: ethosolution. "Ethos" - essentially "character" or the ideals and principles that characterize an organization, community, or ideology and the world "solution" creating the following definition:
Any idea, organization, or cause founded upon guiding principles and ideals universally accepted as creating a better world: integrity, honesty, love, compassion, cooperation, sustainability, kindness, philanthropy, etc. Anything generally accepted as being a solution to common problems of our day and having a positive effect on humanity as a whole.

Spent the day working on the financials...

Added to already detailed spreadsheet on rental, timeshare, and home sales revenue. Met with Mike and explored a different way of doing timeshare SALES where you sell two month periods in the timeshare and then profit share if the person owning the two months doesn't use it or rent it themselves.

Pretty cool model for raising larger sums of money up-front to build something and could be a model we use to fund the building of the tree-house pod.

Woke up this morning and my site pointed to the new Resource Based Economy page instead of my home page... no reason.  Took me about 45 minutes to fix... bizarre.

Long last week...

The last week has been busy busy busy. Attended the Prophet's Conference last weekend and made some outstanding contacts and met some amazing people. Barbara Marx Hubbard and Daniel Pinchbeck definitely stood out.

Returned from that and had two days with my son and then went right into a 5 day class where I met someone I feel strongly is meant to be on the ranch.

Started google Adwords today, installed Google Analytics yesterday. Fixed the search button on all the pages.

2 Day Struggle

Spent all day Monday (12 hours) and 10 hours today syncing and re-syncing the audio for video 3... still working on this and definitely testing my patience to new levels. I've succeeded three times only to export the file to video format and have it not synced... no reason why. Have give three different workarounds a try and none of them have worked.

Now I'm dropping the video into iMovie and seeing if I can edit the audio and video files together there... amazingly frustrating spending so much time on something and not producing a finished result.

Promoted the radio show too, had to re-record some of the audio for video 3 because I still don't have the Pod 1 and 2 architectural plans I'm waiting on (will make separate videos for them in the future), and wrote the "this is where we are" e-mail for people contacting us with interest.... which is picking up.

Wrote a how page that won't be posted until tomorrow and spent all day scripting the audio for the "how" video - recorded and edited it.

Video 2 Done!

Spent all day Wednesday working on Video two. Re-recorded the whole thing, made the visual images, and successfully synced it all up - then the problems started. YouTube for some unknown reason decreased the volume to almost inaudible and after re-uploading it three times and doing about two hours of research on-line I gave up and purchased software to record the screen and internal volume of my computer as a work-around... which I did today.

The rest of my day was networking while working on the videos... mostly through facebook. Also got the www.onecommunityranch.com site crawled for the first time since migration (25 pages indexed so far) so Google is now finding us if you search for "One Community Ranch" as the #1 find.

What I've learned today...

Not sure if I could have done it any different but here is the learning of the day:

"When you've got 1000 things to do and you run into a problem you can't solve quickly - rather than do 5 hours of research to figure it out... go to the most knowledgable source you can find, ask for the solution, and work on the other 999 things you've got on your plate until you at least hear back."

Added an amazing social media bar to my site that allows people to share the site on EVERY social media outlet currently available... spent about an hour getting it on every page of the site before I realized it didn't work quite right.. 4 hours of research later I realized the answer I was looking for didn't exist and I had to contact a professional...

Now I'm taking it all off the site and waiting for an answer...

Spent the day refixing my ezines article for the third time... hopefully it will be accepted now :) Caught up on all my e-mails and got FaceBook really rolling... crazy to see it grow so fast. All in all, not my most productive day as I was still pretty tired from the weekend.

Picked up the new One Community Business cards... they made some errors so I need to have them replaced.

A few things about the weekend: Clinton Swaine has been someone I've respected as a class act and man if integrity for the past 5 years... this last weekend he took my respect to an entirely new level through his honesty, candor and willingness to just be the outstanding person he is with a completely open heart and willingness to be 100 percent self-realized and open about it. I will not attempt to describe the indescribable and will only say that it is a very powerful and emotional experience for me to see someone standing so firm in their integrity and truly BEING.

Thank you Clinton for being you and sharing with us. Amazing.

On a separate note, Clinton has said he will help me review all the details of this project when we are done polishing in a couple weeks and he even invited me to come down and spend a day with him to discuss it when it is finished; a gift beyond value.

Started the day by writing a 1500 word optimized article to drive traffic to www.onecommunityranch.com, checked on when it would be done migrating (      7-10 days :(    ) and then I updated all the links on all 50 pages of the site, redid all the links on the brochure, re-uploaded it, recreated my sitemap and uploaded it, optimized and edited these three pages:

14 hrs yesterday... 12 today...

Wrote, edited and optimized 6 more pages yesterday. Spent a lot of time fixing the rename issue... which can't be completely finished until the site is done migrating to the new host... had hoped that would happen today but it can take upto 5 days.

Site Restored!... sort of....

Ok, got the site back up but all the page names have changed... part of what caused the problem in the first place.

With the site migration I was going to have to change all the page names anyway, about a good day's worth of work, but worth it because of the benefits for indexing the site and getting noticed on Google.

Put together two more pages with music and will be requesting permission from the artists tomorrow.

CRASH!

So I completely lost my web presence today.... and my site, which I'm waiting to see if I can recover it right now... waiting for a copied portion to upload to mobile me and see if it works or not... VERY scary. I'm looking at somewhere around 500 hours of work.

Started getting publishing errors and I couldn't correct them. Restarted computer, rebooted iWeb many times, then I created a new site to see if that would publish and unwittingly published it OVER my old site on-line... completely wiping out what was there before!

Now I'm transferring one page at a time over to this new site and attempting to publish that... which seems to be happening except... it's not finishing the process... yet... seems frozen.

Spent all day updating all my links and transferring the site to a new server... good news is it is stored there as of about 2 PM today... bad news is I've been working on it all day... sooooo I shouldn't have any possibility of losing the 500 hours... just the 8 from today.

Crossing my fingers.

1/15/2011 - New web host needed...

Spent the last two days with my son and woke up this morning realizing I need a new website host. Google, for whatever reason, is not crawling my site and it looks like it is a mobile me problem. Changing hosts is going to take me HOURS of rewriting all my links; boring and tedious work. Hoping to complete this all today.

1/12/11 Editing and SEOing top three site pages...

Two clients this morning so I only logged 13 hours. Started the day by realizing my header tags hidden behind pictures were showing up in a font so large it spilled out and looked horrible. Took 2 hours to fix on all the pages but I consider that a gift as I'd found something that said italicized and bolded words may get preferential treatment viewing by browser bots... so it gave me an opportunity to bold all those too.

Tuesdays are with my son. Today we went to Griffith park and spent the day at the playground, mixing and matching parts on his animal morphs, and enjoying nature.  Good Times :) Back at it tomorrow.

Working on increasing my web ranking...

Gotta get my web ranking up. Typing in "One Community Ranch" in Google doesn't even bring up my page and "One Community" with associated terms like self-sustainability, eco, green, etc. is even worse.

I've created a site map, placed links to my page on prominent sites like the CHEK Institute and others, and now I'm looking into SEO (Search Engine Optimization) tools... looks like Rage Software has the one I'm going to use because it works well with iWeb.

Let the learning begin :).... More later...

Something to do with Java... which I know nothing about. What I do know, is that page one, linking to page two, linking to page 3, and then linking back to page 1 is apparently VERY important in the eyes of Google... so I'm now updating all pages to have the first HTML string rather than the second and making sure that the first three levels of my pages all link back to each other and page one.

Writing this now rather than later as it seems the process has crashed my iWeb and I've gotta wait for it to uncrash so I can reboot and hopefully the problem will go away :(

11PM now... spent all day (sat down at 8 AM, finishing now) updating all my links and researching keywords for the community, resulting in 7 new pages on the website that will become articles also for Digg and eZines. Spent hours creating header tags, and getting organized for the keywords in relation to meta tags, image tags, and title tags. 

By the time I'm done I'll have some pretty solid ranking I think.

Exhausted now and I've got Hakan tomorrow so turning in... all in all a good day even though my computer crashed three times :) Good think I save frequently lol
