One Community on Midwest Real

One Community featured on Midwest Real Podcast: http://midwestreal.net/ Midwest Real's Intro to this show: "If you participate in social media, you’ve no doubt seen a plethora of inspirational memes floating around the Internet. You know the type; they’re the ones that feature psychedelic art or images of nature. Maybe there’s even an image of Albert Einstein’s disembodied head floating through outer space, disseminating a classic quote. Or, my favorite, a Native American staring at the moon flanked by a hawk and an especially timely old proverb. I’ll be honest; I’m guilty of it. I share stuff of this ilk pretty much on the regular. But, I’ve come to realize something. If you’re (I’m) not cultivating real action out of what you’re (I’m) posting, it’s nothing more than sanctimonious drivel. In essence you’re (I’m) full of shit, no matter how well intentioned you (I) might be..."

5-Year Plan for Jumpstarting Global Transformation

5 year plan for jumpstarting global transformation to a sustainable planet of people living and creating for The Highest Good of All. One Community is about moving beyond a model solution by building a solution creating model. This means a regenerative and better long-term approach to sustainable world development because One Community is not designed as just one solution, but rather as a creator of modular sustainability components and solutions. One Community and our duplicable model and free blueprints include everything from sustainable food, sustainable energy, and sustainable and duplicable eco-housing, to recreation, education, fulfilled living practices, and social architecture. While anything after five years is pure speculation, we believe that if we make each piece of One Community easy to duplicate, free to access, and well-known, people will follow our lead and start to build their own prototype infrastructures and establish a sustainable world model founded on...

Meeting The Six Foundational Human Needs

We have come to a point in our history where we have the opportunity to create a place we can choose to live in integrity with every moment; choosing harmony with ourselves, our circle of friends and family, and our planet as a demonstration of living for The Highest Good of All. The best part is, we can also do this in a way that specifically fulfills our human needs and allows us to live lives that are rich, vibrant, and meaningful. This page is about the foundations of fulfillment and how models like One Community are a path to achieving this both ethically and ecologically.

Open Source Duplicable City Hub - Portal Redesigned and Updated

One Community is designing an open source duplicable city center to save resources and help model a redefinition of how people choose to live. The SEGO Center Duplicable City Hub will function as a recreation center, large-scale dining hall, large-scale laundry facility, and alternative for visitors that might not (at first) be comfortable staying in the earthbag or straw bale hand-constructed homes. As part of One Community’s duplicable teacher/demonstration communities, villages, and cities model, this one building will function as a revenue stream and communal-use and resource-saving replacement of individual kitchens, laundry rooms, and living rooms for all residents of One Community.

Hoop House Open Source Hub is Complete

A hoop house (also called a polytunnel, hoop greenhouse, or hoophouse) is a greenhouse with a plastic roof wrapped over a flexible structure of hoops. The interior heats up because incoming solar radiation from the sun warms plants, soil, and other things inside the building faster than heat can escape the structure. The large hoops or bows can be made of metal, plastic pipe or even wood. The heavy greenhouse plastic "skin" is then stretched tight over the hoops and fastened to baseboards with strips of wood, metal, wire or even used irrigation tape and staples. Hoop houses are ultra-affordable, fast and cheap to build, and can extend a growing season by a couple month on each end. Click here for an extensive article on hoop houses if you'd like to read more.

Results of 30 Hours of Researching Water Saving Shower Heads

A shower is an important part of almost every person’s day, so we spent over 30 hours researching water-saving shower heads. Reviews, however, are always mixed and we see the One Community environment as arguably the best place possible for reviewing products like this because the environment is so collaborative and eco-focused. For this reason, we will be testing and open source sharing our experience with all the above shower heads that our research identified were the best of the best. We will evolve this page with those details and use what we learn in our purchasing decisions as we build the 7 sustainable village models.

Sustainable Alternative to Tampons

Menstrual cups offer a sustainable solution to the way women’s monthly flow had most commonly been handled, which was either by using disposable tampons or disposable pads. With the common and repetitive use of disposables, countless disposable tampons, pads, and their packaging are flushed and put into landfills. Most people don’t think about it and advertisers of the products even boast an “out of sight and out of mind” mentality. But the reality is these products are far from “out of sight”. They can be seen everywhere – in our landfills, washing up in our coast lines, our bathroom garbage cans, and traces of it may even be on or in your body!

Enviroartistic Design

One Community is designed to showcase and share that the Highest Good of All cities of the future will be an artistically built environment that demonstrates a green community is more than just eco-friendly, it's beautifully artistic and more functional as well. To accomplish this, we see the importance of focusing primarily on four foundations: affordable duplicability in accordance with our open source goals, showcasing of the diversity of eco-building methods, demonstrating innovative designs with individual aesthetic beauty, and maximized functionality while each contributing something unique to the recreation aspects of One Community.

Ultra-sustainable Food Forest Creation and Open Source Hub

A food forest is, as the name implies, a forest of food. The goal of this gardening and land management system is to mimic a woodland ecosystem with companion planting of edible trees, shrubs, perennials and annuals grown in a succession of layers. Fruit and nut trees are usually the canopy/overstory, while below is the understory of berry shrubs and edible ground plantings. Beneficial plants, or “companions,” are included to attract insects for natural pest management, as soil amenders providing nitrogen and mulch, or for other benefits. Working together, the plants form a forest garden ecosystem that functions long-term to increase water retention and infiltration, protect the soils from heavy rainfall events, establish windbreaks, increases soil fertility, expand wildlife habitat, and provide food, building and craft materials, medicines, and more.

One Community Open Source Straw Bale Village Design

The straw bale housing teacher/demonstration community, village, and city model is purposed for open source project-launch blueprinting and building modularly expandable sustainable housing. Using the double torus design we will build the first few units to completion to show what is possible on the small scale, and then add onto those units to demonstrate how this style of communal housing could be expanded as a community or village need for housing expands, adding additional units as necessary while simultaneously improving energy efficiency and creating a growing space protected by new units. The double torus design also allows for easy modification of the internal structure at a later time to connect or separate rooms based on community resident/family needs. Earthbag Village Materials Costs

The purpose of our organization is to make the building of self-propagating self-sufficient teacher/demonstration communities, villages, and cities as easy as possible. It is also to demonstrate food, housing, and energy for 100 people can be built for less than the cost of supplying these things for just 10 people in the current system. Clearly defining exactly what the materials costs are for duplication of every component of the earthbag village is an important part of this. This page is the results of our research and it will evolve with even more details as we build the earthbag village and identify through our experience the best materials and partners that can reduce the price for acquiring all needed tools and equipment. We will open source these details here as they evolve.

Creating Global Sustainability for The Highest Good of All: Open Source | Non-profit | Self-replicating

Redesigned and simplified page: "One Community is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is taking a comprehensive approach to maximize the ease of replicating sustainable living and the number of people that can access it. Our collaborative approach engages all demographics and creates new ways to live a more fulfilled life in every way. Every component is open source and can be built modularly, which removes the barriers for duplication while we expand our global network of sharing and creating even more for The Highest Good of All. We are comprehensively and simultaneously addressing food, energy, construction, fulfilled living, adult and child education models, social architecture, sustainable and ethical business practices, and thinking and creating for The Highest Good of All because we see these thing as interconnected and essential to address as a group if a globally transformational solution is to be successful."

Mini-greenhouse for Under $50? The Open Source Hoop House Page is Now Up!

The heavy greenhouse plastic “skin” is then stretched tight over the hoops and fastened to baseboards with strips of wood, metal, wire or even used irrigation tape and staples. Hoop houses are ultra-affordable, fast and cheap to build, and can extend a growing season by a couple month on each end. Click here for an extensive article on hoop houses if you’d like to read more.

Creating a Global Sustainability Solution

The time has come for a solution versus a bandage for the pressing issues of today’s world. Right now over 40,000 people each day starve to death, 1.6 billion people (1/4th of humanity) are without electricity, and over 100 million people worldwide are without a home. One Community is providing a solution to this in the form of a comprehensive model that addresses all of these problems simultaneously. This comprehensive (versus individual) approach is foundational to creating the global sustainability solution capable of transforming our planet in the way that is needed to benefit everyone, everywhere.

Imagine Life Where You Never Have to Work a Traditional Job Again

Hey Team! We just updated our Community Contribution page that explains how a sustainable community model can provide an environment where nobody ever has to work a regular job. We feel this is one of the biggest benefits most people are seeking from a sustainable lifestyle. Our organization is also really focused on showcasing this as a path to engaging a broader audience in wanting and investing in sustainable infrastructure. Something of note that isn't included in our page is that true projections show it would really only take about 20 hours a week to keep everything operating once the foundational infrastructure is in place. In our case, however, we are seeking those who enjoy contribution and the process of making a difference enough to commit to a 40-hour model long-term as the extra 20 hours will be invested in on-going open source creation and sharing- a process our organization is purposed to engage in and lead indefinitely.

One Community Residency Timeline

This page is the 5+ year projection page for residency and traffic at One Community. If a person or family volunteers for eighteen months with our non-profit organization they will own a 99 year lease on one structure they helped build at One Community. They can continue to volunteer with us and live in this structure, upgrading it as we build new structures, or they can leave and we will rent it to visitors as an income property based on our entrepreneurial model.

http://www.onecommunityglobal.org/residency-timeline/

One Community Rental Revenue Projections

Here's one way to spread sustainable ideas while addressing personal financial needs through a financially viable sustainable communities model. While there is a significant movement happening to move people away from the monetary system completely, computers, machinery, raw materials, insurance, etc. are items that still need to be purchased for the foreseeable future. There is also the issue of (most) people still having significant debt that they need to address. One Community addresses this with an eco-tourism resort model that shares the sustainable community concept while offering significant value. The model is also duplicable.

How to Create a Better World – One Community Progress Update #21

One Community is a solution creating solution purposed to duplicate itself. The solution we are creating is a model for how to create a better world. By now most people know that the necessary resources and technology exist to feed, house, and provide energy for every person on Earth. These solutions, however, are currently not available to most people. To solve this problem we are building the first of a global collaborative of self-sufficient teacher/demonstration communities, villages, and cities that will provide a path to put the necessary technology and resources where they are needed most. Models such as this that provide a more appealing and affordable lifestyle have the potential to gain mainstream interest and support and become self-replicating, multiplying exponentially and transforming life on this planet as we know it. This is our progress update and accomplishments for the week of July 15, 2013.

Evolving Sustainability to become Sustainable Sustainability - The how's and whys

The ultimate purpose of creating sustainable sustainability is to create an environment where living a happy life is realized as the end in itself. We believe this is most easily achieved through an evolution of sustainability that demonstrates sustainable infrastructure as a path to a more fulfilled way of living. Coming together with a group consciousness focused on The Highest Good of All, we are building One Community as a living example of this so we can lead a global cooperative of teacher/demonstration communities, villages, and cities helping to spread and share this idea of sustainable sustainability across the world.

We are doing this in the form of seven comprehensive sustainability village models that provide what we feel most people will consider to be a more fulfilled way of living. The components of these models will be able to be duplicated modularly or as complete and self-propagating teacher/demonstration communities, villages, and cities that are not only model solutions, but solution-creating models that provide even more research, blueprints, and necessary support for successively easier and more affordable and creative duplication everywhere.

Creating a World for The Highest Good of All

One Community is based on a Highest Good of All approach, which means all choices are made in a stewardship mindset of moving forward with what we feel is in the best interest of each other, all people, and the planet. We are applying this approach to the creation of blueprints and working models for all aspects of a duplicatable mini-society. We recognize our approach is only one way, not the way, and are designing everything to make adaptation easy to unique/varying needs. We believe our Highest Good of All mindset and approach combined with the blueprints we are creating will help to pave the way to a new age of happiness and collaborative co-existence for all of humanity.

Water Collection off the Complete Earthbag Village Calculations are Done!

We just added all the details for water catchment for the complete earthbag village to our open source water harvesting and catchment hub! Check it out! http://www.onecommunityglobal.org/water-conservation/ For anyone that would like to help us there is 1 HUGE way we could also use your assistance right now and that is by sharing and/or liking our three new investor pages: http://www.onecommunityglobal.org/funding-overview-page/ http://www.onecommunityglobal.org/funding-property-page/ http://www.onecommunityglobal.org/funding/ This is especially important to us at this moment in time because in transferring our entire site to our new "global" URL we lost ALL of our "social media love" in the form of likes and shares (some pages had over 200). These numbers were all reset to "0" when we moved the site and we'd really like to get these numbers back up to show the people we are engaging related to funding that there is public interest and support for what we are doing.
